Η Fiat, in collaboration with KIRI Technologies and Stellantis' e-Mobility division, have developed the innovative "KIRI" program, the first effort to reward drivers who follow a more environmentally friendly driving style. Four months after the launch of the program, the 100 most efficient drivers of the new all-electric 500 won gift certificates by implementing driving choices that also reduced the cost of charging their cars.
The KIRI program is based on rewards through KIRI digital coins, which can be used in a variety of online stores. The value of a KIRI is equivalent to the removal of 250 tonnes of CO2, a quantity that can absorb in one year an area of 10 hectares of Pavlonias, the tree that is the symbol of KIRI Technologies. Participation in this initiative is very simple. All that is required is for the user to install the free "FIAT" application and register on the KIRI platform. From then on, the more carefully and environmentally friendly he drives, the greater the reward.
The eco:Score evaluates the way the driver decelerates and accelerates, as well as the ability to maintain as smooth a course as possible by taking advantage of the flow of traffic, thus maximising the autonomy of the electric 500. eco:Score is part of Uconnect services, Fiat's multimedia system, which rates the driver on a scale from 0 to 100 and provides advice on how to use the car more efficiently.
The higher the eco:Score is, the more KIRI coins the user earns. In urban commuting with an average driving score of 10,000km/year, the user can earn KIRI coins worth up to €150. This initiative is another effort to raise awareness among drivers to drive in as environmentally friendly a way as possible. For example, analysis of data provided by eco:Score to users in Italy showed that those registered with the KIRI app had an average score 10 points higher than non-registered users. The most efficient drivers who have installed the app had a further 10 points better score and so with a total of 20% better performance they enjoy even greater autonomy and even lower charging costs.
The all-electric 500 is the new version of the legendary automotive model, which has evolved into an innovative, always connected and zero-emission means of transport. At the same time, despite its highly advanced nature, the new 500 follows Fiat's philosophy of democratising electrification, making it the most affordable all-electric model on the market, with the range price starting below the €20,000* barrier.
