With thelaunch of 29 new models on the market by 2020 and with a target of 29 new models by 2020.More than 65,000 orders for the new generation Astra will certainly boost Opel's market share.
Opel's upward trend continues: The German carmaker recorded a significant increase in Europe last month and exceeded one million sales. With such data, the overall sales and market share figures for Opel and its British sister brand Vauxhall in 2015 are expected to improve for the third consecutive year.
Between January and November 2015, new Opel/Vauxhall car registrations in Europe increased by more than 38,000 units to more than one million vehicles according to preliminary figures. In November alone, Opel recorded a sales increase of around 9,800 units. Market share increased by more than 0.5 percentage points to 5.89%. Between January and November, market share improved to 5.81%.
Opel managed to increase its sales in more than 19 European markets including Germany, the UK, Italy, Spain, France, Poland, Denmark and the UK during the year. In Greece, it remains firmly in 2nd place in the ranking of passenger car registrations to individuals, with a market share of 9.1%, while launching the new Astra with the intention of remaining in 1st place in the category, which it already holds with the outgoing model.
The new Opel Astra was one of the pillars of success, although it was launched in most European markets only in November. To date, over 65,000 orders have been placed for the best Opel ever.
The development of the Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) sector is also highly satisfactory. From January to November, Opel's LCV segment grew by over 25% year-on-year, while the European market growth was no more than 10%.
"We are on the right track and our product onslaught is paying off. Models like the Mokka and ADAM are among our trump cards," said Peter Christian Küspert, Opel Group Vice President Sales & Aftersales. "Next year we will launch the Astra Sports Tourer and a few other new products."
Opel will systematically continue the biggest product offensive in the company's history. From 2016 to 2020, the company plans to launch 29 new models on the market.
