Traffic Education Week at Zappeion with the participation of Volvo

Volvo participates in the week of activities on traffic education organized at Zappeion Hall by the Road Safety Institute (RSI) "Panos Mylonas" in cooperation with the European Commission Representation in Greece. The event, which is under the auspices of the Hellenic Parliament, is entitled "Road Safety.

The programme is aimed at students of all ages and has already started on Friday, with visits to several schools, while today and Sunday, the events are open to the general public, with opening hours from 11.00-17.00.

Through the experiential activities of the I.O.A.S., visitors have the opportunity to learn, have fun and raise awareness on the importance of protecting life on the road. At the same time, they will certainly be impressed by the experience in the rollover simulator, which offers a realistic demonstration of the usefulness of three-point seat belts in the event of an accident. Participants board a specially designed Volvo V40 which, although static, with the use of electromechanical equipment, changes its balance in relation to the longitudinal axis, gradually reaching full rollover, with the passengers experiencing in practice the necessity of using seat belts.

The rest of the Institute's equipment is also located in Zappeion, which is used for the vivid and effective presentation of the road safety programmes developed and conducted by the I.O.S. Part of this equipment is another, smaller simulator that represents everyday driving conditions as well as a device demonstrating the force exerted on the human body during an impact at a fixed point, thus demonstrating the enormous usefulness of the three-point safety belt.

Volvo, the premium brand that holds the top position in the global automotive bible in the safety chapter, is a strategic partner of the Road Safety Institute (RSI) "Panos Mylonas" since the middle of the year. The common goal is to raise even greater awareness of Greek drivers, passengers and pedestrians on road safety issues and in the long term to establish "traffic education and culture" in our country, important factors for the gradual reduction of road accidents in the future.
