In a simple but sufficiently comprehensive statement, General Motors confirmed the reports that it is in talks for the sale of Opel-Vauxhall to PSA Group and indirectly confirmed the TopSpeed.gr report that the discussion between the two giants concerns a package deal that will not only include the sale of GM's European business to the French group.
In the GM statement, it is stated: '.Since 2012, General Motors and the PSA Group have been implementing an alliance that to date covers three projects in Europe and which has created significant synergies for the two groups. In this context, General Motors and the PSA Group regularly consider additional opportunities to expand this partnership. The PSA Group and General Motors confirm that they are exploring a number of strategic initiatives aimed at improving profitability and operational efficiency, including a possible acquisition of Opel Vauxhall by PSA.
There can be no assurance that an agreement will be reached“.
