The new SUV will be positioned above the Ateca and will be SEAT's top-of-the-range model, and will be available in 5 and 7-seat versions. It will be designed in Barcelona and built at the Wolfsburg plant in the heart of the Volkswagen Group. It is expected to be launched in 2018.
The SEAT range continues to grow. The carmaker will further strengthen its aggressive product policy, which started with the Ateca, with the launch of a third SUV, which will be the brand's flagship. The new SUV will be positioned in the next segment above the successful Ateca, will be offered in 5-seat and 7-seat versions and will be launched in 2018.
Before that, in the second half of this year, SEAT will launch the Arona, a compact crossover, which will be built in Martorell on the same platform as the new Ibiza. The new, larger, SUV will be built at Volkswagen's Wolfsburg plant, thus facilitating synergies within the Group, taking advantage of the MQB A2 platform.
SEAT President Luca de Meo expressed his satisfaction with the new SUV: "This car will bring new customers to us, enhance the brand image and improve profit margins. It will be designed in Barcelona and manufactured in Germany. Production of the new SUV in Wolfsburg, at the heart of the Group, will strengthen the ties between SEAT and Volkswagen."
SEAT's new SUV will continue SEAT's aggressive product policy beyond 2017 and will contribute to further improving the company's financial results in the coming years. In 2016, the company achieved the best financial results in its history with an operating profit of 143 million euros.
