PSA is preparing a major new acquisition!

Η Opel takeover is not the end of the story for PSA. The French consortium of Peugeot Citroen, DS and, more recently (with the €2.2 billion deal), Opel, may not have bought, as expected, in the end, the Lotuswhich passed into the hands of Geelybut has set its sights on new acquisition, when the procedures with Opel are completed.
"It's coming something big". This is what sources from the French automaker tell TopSpeed.gr, stressing that the acquisition of Lotus was among the possible targets of the PSA, was not But first-rate issue.

According to the same sources, the PSA is in discussions for the acquisition of another, oversized manufacturer cars. Η second largest car manufacturer of Europe, wants to enter more dynamically into the markets outside Europe, but also to increase its production volume while reducing development costs.
Η "Recipe", will not change, but will come as a continuation of the one that PSA has planned with Opel. That is, the Groupe will essentially become a communicate vessel for the exchange of know-how, which will be applied to his group's models. At the same time, economies of scale will be achieved, both by reducing development costs and by sharing platforms. This will be seen, for example, in Corsa of 2019which, we are told, will "wear" hardware of Peugeot/Citroen (there will be a report on this soon in TopSpeed.gr).

Besides, the extroversion that Peugeot has been showing lately, is something that is not... hidden. It is already present in almost 160 countries and more than 10.000 points of sale. For 2016, the French carmaker increased sales by 12.3% with 1,919,460 units worldwide, with a strong presence in all major and growing markets.
Of course, then, the question is also Commercial. And, because the PSA
not lacking factories, the desirable is the new addition to the portfolio companies, to boost the -already high- prestige of the Groupe. That is why, any discussions that have taken place so far have been about historic car manufacturers that would need the PSA's help, but could also contribute to it. Discussions are at a fairly advanced stage with a brand that meets all these characteristics, however, from the "good atmosphere in the discussions", to the signature of the deal, there is a long way...
