Volvo EX90 Excellence: driving in style and comfort

Our new Volvo EX90 Excellence is an already special car made even more special. It is the top-of-the-range version of the Volvo EX90 that will be produced in limited numbers. It was unveiled a few days ago in Shanghai and takes the premium experience to an even higher level.

The Volvo EX90 Excellence is your ideal companion if you prefer to relax in the back seats instead of driving, to give you a little more personal time. Whether because it fits your busy schedule or simply because you want it, the Volvo EX90 Excellence allows you to travel in ultimate style and first-class comfort.

"Initially, it will be launched in China, as the Chinese market is extremely important for our company and the Volvo EX90 Excellence was created to meet the demand for top-of-the-line chauffeur-driven cars."

On the outside, the Volvo EX90 Excellence includes a few minor changes compared to the 7-seat version of the model, which give it an even more imposing and impressive appearance. You might notice the two-tone paint or the specially designed 22-inch forged wheels, optimized for aerodynamic performance, greater ruggedness and better grip. However, overall the car is based on the beautiful Volvo EX90 we revealed to the public late last year.

Unparalleled comfort inside

Step inside, however, and you'll find that this is where the big change happens. The most obvious difference is that we've removed the rear row seats, replacing them with two separate seats that include comfortably soft cushions.

Having ensured that you'll enjoy a seat of unrivalled comfort in the second row, we've further enhanced the levels of luxury. Between the two seats we have incorporated a fridge where you can store a large bottle to enjoy a cold drink anytime you want.

Then, as your fingers run over this beautiful natural wood element on the centre console, you'll find a functionally integrated touch panel that offers comfortable handling. From here you can access controls for heating your seat (you can choose between three levels) and the massage function (five levels).

By now you'll have noticed the large Orrefors crystal element on the centre console. It's a microswitch that controls the fragrance delivery, supporting up to three different fragrances. This sensory perception is enhanced by the cabin's ambient lighting, culminating the relaxing experience inside your Volvo EX90 Excellence.

In terms of materials, the Volvo EX90 Excellence is available with either a special wool weave or Nordico upholstery. Created from fabrics made from recycled materials such as PET bottles and bio-based materials from forests in Sweden and Finland, Nordico is an eco-friendly, yet highly advanced material.

As for the wool knit, it consists of a fibre that has been certified according to strict sustainability standards for animal welfare, environmental and social issues.

Technologically, the Volvo EX90 Excellence benefits from the same advanced technology base that we introduced in the Volvo EX90 at the end of last year. The Volvo EX90 Excellence is the safest four-seater we've ever built and features an invisible safety shield created by our latest technology in sensors, inside and out, as well as Luminar lidar technology as standard and a revolutionary driver behaviour analysis system.

A central computing unit - powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE® platform, with Xavier and Orin processors, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Snapdragon Cockpit platforms and internally developed software from Volvo engineers - performs important in-car functions from safety, entertainment and information to battery management. The end result is a more responsive and enjoyable experience inside the car.

The Volvo EX90 Excellence will not just be a new car. It will be a highly advanced computer on wheels. Better still, just like your smartphone or laptop, the Volvo EX90 Excellence is designed to get better over time, thanks to regular wireless (over-the-air) software updates.

A 14.5-inch centre screen is your gateway to a highly intuitive infotainment system, and thanks to standard 5G connectivity - where available - it's never been easier to install the apps you need on the home screen.

You can even play your favourite music and podcasts on the new Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity sound system, which through Dolby Atmos offers, for the first time in a Volvo, an uncompromised 3D audio experience. The system is specifically tuned for the four-seat layout of the Volvo EX90 Excellence, with speakers integrated into the headrests to create an even more immersive audio experience.

Thanks to the two electric motors and all-wheel drive, the Volvo EX90 Excellence offers a smooth driving experience with extremely long range.
