The new Jeep Cherokee, will return to the US automaker's lineup since it was retired from the market in 2023. Its return in 2025 was confirmed by Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa, speaking to Il Sole 24 Ore. The newspaper speculates on the possible production of this car in Italy. According to the same newspaper, the car could be produced at the Melfi plant. At the moment, however, this news has not yet been officially confirmed, so developments are expected.
The fact that the new Jeep Cherokee could be produced in Melfi is a complex issue and falls under the issue of platforms. Five cars based on the STLA medium platform, including the new Lancia Gamma, will be produced at Melfi in the future. The future Cherokee, on the other hand, will have to use the STLA Large platform, so if it is indeed produced in Italy, it could also be built at the Cassino plant, which will be the only one to build cars with this platform in the coming years, including the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia.
