The first all-electric BMW 3 Series, specially built for China

The BMW Group continues to expand its range of electric vehicles. The latest addition is the all-electric BMW 3 Series, which will enter the Chinese market in May 2022. The BMW i3 eDrive35L is perfectly suited to the specific requirements of Chinese customers. It is based on the successful BMW 3 Series, which led the luxury compact segment in China in 2021.

With a wheelbase 11 cm longer than the standard 3 Series, the BMW i3 eDrive35L combines a luxurious rear-seat experience with zero-emission driving. At the same time, the all-electric four-door sedan offers the sporty dynamics, long-distance travel comfort and wide range of personalization options that have made the BMW 3 Series famous. The high level of build quality, service quality and long life are also distinctive features of the BMW i3 eDrive35L, making it a unique opportunity in the luxury compact segment.

The BMW i3 eDrive35L is available with the latest components of the BMW Gen5 eDrive system, which is already familiar from the BMW iX3, BMW i4 and BMW iX. In addition, the BMW OS8 operating system and a wide range of cutting-edge digital features and services - e.g. 5G connectivity and the Digital Key - make their debut in the 3 Series.

The tuning of the BMW i3 eDrive35L's suspension systems for Chinese road conditions has been carried out by the R&D department of the BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. joint venture in Shenyang, which also adapted some of the car's components to the requirements of the supply chain in China. The BMW i3 eDrive35L will be assembled exclusively for the Chinese market at the BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. plant in Lydia, Shenyang. With the BMW i3 eDrive35L, the BMW Group's range of pure electric vehicles now includes six models. The BMW Group's goal is for half (50%) of its global sales to consist of pure electric vehicles by 2030.
