Hyundai launches hydrogen refuelling station in Germany

With the cooperation of the Clean Energy Partnership, both Hyundai Motor and other companies are introducing hydrogen propulsion.

Hyundai Motor in partnership with Air Liquide has inaugurated a public hydrogen refuelling station at its headquarters in Offenbach, Germany. Thanks to technology developed by Air Liquide, drivers of fuel cell electric vehicles, such as the Hyundai ix35 fuel cell vehicle, can refuel their cars to maximum capacity in only three to five minutes. The opening of the new hydrogen refuelling station continues the collaboration between leading industry partners under the umbrella of the Clean Energy Partnership (CEP). The station was built by Air Liquide and is a further step towards creating a national hydrogen infrastructure.

The new hydrogen fuel station has been installed by Air Liquide and is part of the CEP network, a joint government-industry initiative established in 2002 and managed by the German Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. The construction and maintenance of the station is being financed by the Ministry to the tune of €1 million.

Ability to supply 30 vehicles per day

Due to the latest technology standards, the Air Liquide hydrogen station is able to reduce refuelling time to a minimum by providing maximum use of the vehicle's tank capacity. The daily supply capacity of the new station is 200 kg of hydrogen and is sufficient to fuel more than 30 vehicles per day.

Reduction of greenhouse gases by 80%

The Clean Energy Partnership (CEP) was established in 2002 to establish hydrogen as an environmentally friendly fuel and help the European Union achieve its target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050. Twenty companies active in fuel cell vehicles, hydrogen, infrastructure and public transport joined forces to promote hydrogen and its infrastructure, including Air Liquide and Hyundai Motor.
