The new BMW X1 has Head-Up-Display (among other things)

The new BMW X1 - the successor to the model that broke new ground in the segment - redefines the DNA of a Sports Activity Vehicle in the premium compact market. The second generation of the successful X1, which boasts over 730,000 sales, is based on the design principles of a BMW X. The interior of the new BMW X1 offers significantly more space for passengers and luggage, an advanced premium environment and functionality based on state-of-the-art technology. Four-cylinder engines of the latest generation from the BMW Group, an optimised version of the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system and new chassis technology significantly improve the sporting potential and driving comfort compared to the outgoing model - with fuel consumption and emissions reduced by up to 17%.

Alongside top dynamic handling and performance, innovative equipment elements ensure the BMW X1's unique position in its class. After all, the options list includes full-function LED headlights, Dynamic Damper Control, BMW Head-Up Display and Driving Assistant Plus.

Solid proportions

Robust proportions, a strong presence and dynamic lines give the new BMW X1 an imposing appearance and underline its status as the newest member of the BMW X family. The new model has increased in height compared to its predecessor (+53 mm), which accentuates the feeling of spaciousness. The raised seats (+36 mm in front, +64 mm in the rear) optimise driver visibility.

Rear knee room has been increased by 37mm in the standard version and up to 66mm with the optionally adjustable rear seat, while the 505L luggage space is 85L larger than the previous model. The standard, 40:20:40 split/reclining rear seats can be optionally ordered with a backrest tilt adjustment so that luggage space can be extended to 1,550 L. An optional folding front passenger seat and a rear seat system that moves forward/backward by 13 cm offer additional flexibility.

New engine generation, AWD xDrive system with optimised performance. The second generation BMW X1 (combined cycle consumption: 6.4-4.1 litres/100 km, combined cycle CO2 emissions: 149-109 g/km) is combined with a new engine range. Two petrol and three diesel engines will be available from the launch in October 2015, all four-cylinder engines and members of the new BMW Group engine range. The power range is from 110 kW/150 hp to 170 kW/231 hp. The engines are mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed Steptronic, both in advanced form.

The intelligent AWD xDrive system is also used in the new BMW X1 in an advanced version. The compact and efficient weight-optimised system uses an electrohydraulically controlled multi-clutch that distributes power between the front and rear axles according to the situation. The family is also joined by the BMW X1 sDrive20i and BMW X1 sDrive18d, in a FWD version designed for dynamic handling that has already proven its worth in the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer.

Premiere in the BMW X1: Head-Up Display and Driving Assistant Plus.

The new generation of the BMW X1 also marks significant developments in the field of intelligent connectivity. A new feature of BMW ConnectedDrive is the BMW Head-Up Display which, as in the larger BMW X models, shows driver-related information directly on the windscreen. The BMW X1 is also available on request with Driving Assistant Plus of the Active Cruise Control system with Stop & Go, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Jam Assistant, Collision Warning and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking. These systems are complemented by the most up-to-date range of applications that allow customers to enhance the comfort, navigation and infotainment/entertainment functions of their car according to their wishes.
