In today’s TSF1 GREECE Podcast, we bring you the latest updates from the 6 Hours of Portimao race in the 2nd Round of this year’s World Endurance Championship.
We start by discussing the equalization process’s downside as the #7 GR010 Toyota suffered a failed torque sensor, costing them a potential podium finish. Peugeot made progress despite low expectations after a disappointing outing at Sebring, while Porsche, Ferrari, and Cadillac showed potential in the Hypercar class but still need to catch up to Toyota’s pace.
We also cover the exciting races in the LMP2 and GTE Am categories, with United Autosports finishing first and second in LMP2 and the Corvette winning the GTE Am race with impressive defense in the closing laps. Lastly, we discuss the future of FIA WEC, with LMP2 likely to be left off the roster outside of Le Mans, and a transition to LMGT3 from the current GTE Am class taking shape. The manufacturers of customer racing programs may be responsible for team selection, and clarity on the actual ruleset and team choices will not emerge until the second half of 2023.
Don’t forget to subscribe to stay updated on the upcoming races in the FIA WEC.
