The Koenigsegg Regera sets unprecedented world record for production cars (Video)

The term “Regera” translates to “To Rule” in Swedish, a name which this record further substantiates. The prowess of the Regera is no secret, having consistently demonstrated its impressive performance both on the track and the road. It has established numerous records for laps, acceleration, and braking over the years. Now, it has yet again shattered the 0-400-0 km/h and 0-250-0 mph records for the second time. The car achieved this demanding speed test in an astounding 28.81 seconds for km/h and 29.60 for mph.

The previous claim to fame was the 2019 0-400-0 km/h record clocked at 31.49 seconds, which had outdone Koenigsegg’s 2017 record set by the Agera RS at 33.29 seconds. Why establish new records with a car no longer in production? Simply because it can! The Regera continues to command respect in an increasingly competitive automobile industry, a fact worthy of being celebrated with a new record.

Conceived and engineered a decade ago, the Regera is still unbeaten. How does it manage to be quicker today than it was four years ago? The answer lies in Michelin’s new Cup2R tires and a smoother track for the latest record runs.

All data has been authenticated and confirmed by RACELOGIC.

0-400-0 km/h 28.81 sec
0-400 km/h 20.68 sec
400-0 km/h 8.13 sec

0-250-0 mph 29.60 sec
0-250 mph 21.35 sec
250-0 mph 8.25 sec

Cutting-Edge Technology

The Regera was constructed to dominate with its revolutionary technology. At its heart is the Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD) propulsion system.

The KDD enables the colossal power of the custom Twin Turbo V8 to directly drive the rear axle without any transmission. Coupled with an electric system that provides additional power and enables brake regeneration like modern F1 cars, it delivers a swift, direct response with incredible force, all while maintaining the highest luxury standards for the driver and passenger.

Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015, the Regera quickly sold out its limited run of 80 units. The first deliveries were made in 2018, and production ended in 2022.

“This specific achievement is immensely significant for Koenigsegg,” stated Christian von Koenigsegg, Founder and CEO of Koenigsegg. “It represents all facets of extraordinary performance. The fact that the Regera continues to astound and captivate the automotive world speaks volumes not just about its timeless design, but also its visionary engineering and technology. I take great pride in this, and as the Jesko customer cars begin to roll out, we eagerly anticipate revealing what’s to come.”
